Harrow's town centre Post Office inside TG Jones at St Anns Shopping Centre will close, with no date yet. The nearest alternatives are Wealdstone and Kenton.
Harrow’s town centre Post Office is to close. The branch is inside the TG Jones shop at Unit 14, St Anns Shopping Centre, St Anns Road. The Post Office told customers in a letter published on Friday 23 October that it is “due to close shortly before the store closes”.
No date has been set. The Post Office says it is working with TG Jones to confirm one, and that it is “likely to be in the next few months”. The letter is on its consultation hub page for the branch, branch number 281020.
The closure follows the restructuring plan of TG Jones, the Post Office’s retail partner in the shop. The Post Office says it is “working hard to find a location nearby” and is “in the early stages of reviewing applications to run the Post Office branch”.
It is the second TG Jones Post Office in the borough to be affected this autumn. The Pinner branch in Bridge Street closed on 14 October.
Where to go instead
The letter names two alternatives, each about 1.2 miles from St Anns:
| Branch | Opening hours | Services |
|---|---|---|
| Wealdstone Post Office, 4-12 Headstone Drive, HA3 5QL | Mon to Fri 9am to 5.30pm, Sat 9am to 12.30pm, closed Sunday | a similar range |
| Kenton Post Office, 148 Kenton Road, HA3 8AZ | Mon to Sun 7am to 11pm | a similar range, but not the full range of travel money or on-demand travel insurance |
The Post Office says both have a wide door and level access, and local buses serving the area. Wealdstone has time-restricted parking nearby; Kenton has roadside parking.
What it means for you
- Nothing changes yet. The St Anns counter keeps trading until the Post Office announces a date. Posters in the branch will give it.
- Travel money: if you rely on the town centre counter for currency, Wealdstone is the named alternative with the same range. Kenton does not offer the full range.
- Weekends: Wealdstone shuts at 12.30pm on Saturdays and all day Sunday. Kenton opens every day until 11pm.
- Getting there: both are reachable by bus from the town centre. Our parking in Harrow page covers the car parks if you drive.
How to have your say
This is filed as an unplanned closure. Under the Post Office’s own rules, whether to replace the service “will be a commercial decision” and “will not be subject to public consultation”, the letter says. You can still send questions and comments to its National Consultation Team:
- email comments@postoffice.co.uk
- write to FREEPOST Your Comments
- call 03452 66 01 15
Comments are not kept confidential unless you mark them “In Confidence”. The Post Office says it will write to local representatives again once it has news about a replacement. We will update this story when it does.
